We are so excited to report that the servicing of our land has started! Our partner in crime is Mike Goheen of Goheen Construction in Picton. We first talked to Mike about 9 months ago – so it seems surreal that the excavation has finally begun. Mike is a pro with the excavator – it looked like he was dancing at times! And as he cleared the scrub and brush we could start to visualized what our property is going to look like. Truly a magical moment. With Kevin working the bulldozer and (the other) Mike hauling the gravel, the driveway is almost done. Thanks so much to Mike, Kevin and Mike – building our dream home begins!

Last Visit to our Land!
Well that’s it, we no longer own a vacant piece of land….construction has started. I guess not exactly “construction”, but the driveway is underway. So here are the photos from March 3, 2017, our last visit with no holes, no muck. The build is going to be very exciting, and of course we can’t wait to live in The County. But this is the turning point – so thought we should share a photo journal of the last day of just us and our land.

Well, Well, Well!
Yup, we hit water! Well, George Chalk of Chalk Well Drilling did actually. It was such a cool process – from the dowsing, to the digging, then the tasting! Dowsing is also called “Water Witching”, and you know, I would not have believed it except I saw it myself. We watched George closely as he walked across the land. George told us where the underground stream began and where it ended, and his recommendation for the well location. And guess what – we hit water at 55 feet! Good flow and not a bad taste.
Our first jug of water from the well!
Fingers crossed that finding water during a drought means we have lots of water this summer and for many summers to come!
